Parallel Coolant Level Module TesterChallenge: This is an end-of-line tester designed to put various types of coolant-level modules through a range of functional tests. A large I/O count was required because up to nine modules would be tested simultaneously. Solution: Data acquisition boards and relay modules from National Instruments were selected as an affordable solution. They integrated easily with the tester software, which we wrote in LabVIEW. Result: The software was designed as a generic test execution module allowing the operator to set up and save a test as a sequence of simple steps such as throwing a specific relay, measuring the output at a specific pin, setting the GPIB-controlled power supply, etc. This flexible architecture allowed for all existing coolant-level modules, as well as new ones, to be tested without ever making a software change. |
